WHY DO WE NEED THE MSTEM STAR PROGRAM?

According to the World Health Organization and United Nations, the global population is aging at an unprecedented rate. The quality of life these adults will have as they age depends upon our readiness to accommodate such a demographic change. Although the aging of our population has significant implications for the structure of our society, too few resources currently exist to address the needs of an aging community. Thus, the MSTEM STAR program was created with the aim of addressing the existing gap in aging research.

Training the Future Generations of Aging Scientists

At California State University, Fullerton, the MSTEM STAR Program stands as a pivotal advancement in addressing the societal challenges related to an aging population. As the global population grows older, particularly with the aging of the baby boomers, the need for specialized knowledge in the field of aging science is becoming more pressing than ever. The program aims to train future scientists and professionals to understand and address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by this demographic shift. This is critical for developing strategies and innovations that support the health and wellbeing of an aging population.
