The National Resource Center for Asian Languages partners with the Asian Language Bilingual Teacher Education Program (BTEP) Consortium to host biannual professional development seminars for pre- and in-service language teachers.

These seminars, held twice annually during the fall and spring semesters, are designed to offer a progressive and structured approach, each one building on prior sessions to deepen participants’ expertise and cultivate collaborative learning amongst professors, teacher candidates, and community members. Topics have encompassed (but are not limited to) culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy; asset and resource-based instruction; and translanguaging design in assessments. While the in-person seminars are generally reserved for BTEP scholars, the virtual sessions are FREE and open to the public.

The next virtual Professional Development seminar will be held on June 6, 2026.
