Transformative Practices
The John Irwin Memorial House provides holistic healing, life-affirming reentry housing and wraparound support services to improve academic, psychosocial, and employment outcomes for formerly incarcerated California State University, Fullerton students. Project Rebound Scholars deserve a second chance to continue their education and earn a baccalaureate degree at CSUF.
We have a passion for inspiring and assisting people with incarceration histories actualize their college ambitions. In an effort to inform, mentor, and guide prospective students toward admission and a successful transition to Cal State Fullerton, Project Rebound staff, students, and volunteers give customized pre-admission presentations and workshops, student panel presentations, and other support-oriented services.
We offer ongoing harm reduction workshops, such as alternative to violence workshops, restorative justice circles, and groups that deal with gender specific issues like shame, rape, and homelessness.
Our students are involved in substance-abuse counseling training, outreach at local correctional facilities and community colleges where they mentor and inspire other formally incarcerated students to continue their education in a university setting.
