Dedicated to the mission of fostering and nurturing strong community partnerships throughout Orange County, our goal is to empower students by introducing them to the transformative power of higher education. We firmly believe that by collaborating with local organizations, businesses, and educational institutions, we can provide students with invaluable opportunities to expand their horizons and unlock their full potential.

Pathways to Higher Education

New York, Beyond Bars

Building an Inclusive Pipeline for System-Impacted Individuals

Our initiative is dedicated to constructing a robust and inclusive pipeline to higher education for system-impacted individuals. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by those affected by the criminal justice system, we aim to break down barriers and create transformative opportunities for academic success. By providing comprehensive support, resources, and mentorship, we empower system-impacted individuals to pursue higher education, unlock their potential, and embark on a path towards a brighter future. Together, let us forge a new narrative of resilience, redemption, and educational achievement.

Community College Outreach

When engaging in the college application process and exploring financial aid programs, individuals may encounter inquiries regarding their criminal record. Project Rebound acknowledges the unique challenges faced by individuals with prior felony convictions when pursuing higher education. Recognizing the obstacles in securing an opportunity for enrollment, our program strives to provide comprehensive support to facilitate admission to a 4-Year University. Through diligent resource allocation, we aim to alleviate financial burdens and empower each student on their educational journey.

Project Rebound Fullerton and Long Beach Staff Welcome New Students

Higher education is a critical intervention strategy that empowers incarcerated people to interrupt the devastating intergenerational cycles of unemployment, poverty, family violence, mental illness, drug addiction, and crime. Education increases students’ employability and earning potential and therefore their ability to care for themselves and their families. Students also frequently identify their participation in the program as a critical component of their recovery from addiction, and/or their ability to manage mental health challenges.  “Education gives you hope” is a comment we hear over and over again.

CSUF Project Rebound Campus Inreach

Together, we cultivate a vibrant and supportive community that nurtures and empowers the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers. Campus partnerships serve as the foundation for paving the way towards a brighter future, as we strive to uplift and inspire students one individual at a time.

Through collaboration, shared resources, and collective efforts, we can create an ecosystem that fosters growth, learning, and boundless opportunities. Your involvement is vital in shaping a generation of individuals equipped with the skills, knowledge, and determination to make a lasting impact on their communities and the world. Together, let us embark on this transformative journey towards a better tomorrow.

MODEL THE WAY!

Project Rebound at CSU Fullerton provides formerly incarcerated students with necessary wraparound resources—such as financial aid, meals, transportation, counseling, community, computer literacy, academic advising and tutoring, mentorship and career development—to enable students to earn a baccalaureate degree and experience greater success in the job market. Recognizing that many of our students have histories of physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse, as well as negative experiences in educational settings, we employ trauma-informed care strategies to respond to students with empathy and understanding.
