The Office of the Associate Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research is pleased to announce Research Week, held on March 18 – 22, 2013. Research Week is a celebration of faculty and student research and a vehicle for our campus community and community partners to learn about the research and collaborative partnership opportunities available at Cal State Fullerton. We hosted events each day, many of which were open to our local university, college and community partners.

Today’s theme is “Celebrating Research at Cal State Fullerton”.
Our Opening Ceremony kicked off Research Week and our Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs provided the keynote speech to welcome our faculty, students, staff and community partners involved in the week’s activities.

Today’s theme is “Engaging Faculty in Research and Creative Activities”.
Today’s activity is a panel discussion followed by a faculty networking session and group discussion.

Today’s theme is “Showcasing Student Research and Creative Activities”.
Our focus was on our extraordinary undergraduate and graduate students who are engaged in research. We had a panel discussion and Outstanding Student Scholarly and Creative Activities Award Ceremony in the morning, followed by a poster session that will be open to the entire campus community.

Today’s theme is “Integrating Teaching and Research”.
We kicked off today’s activities with a discussion by two CSUF faculty who have successfully applied for and implemented grant-funded projects engaging diverse students and community collaborators. They were joined by their collaborating partners. This session was moderated by Dr. Barbara Walker, Director of Research Development at UC Santa Barbara.
Our final event was a Principal Investigator (PI) Reception to recognize and honor Cal State Fullerton faculty and staff members who have submitted grant proposals and/or been awarded external grant awards in 2012. Dr. Mildred García presided over this event.
Concurrently, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics hosted their Inter-Club Council Symposium, “Explorations in Math & Science.” and four winners awarded at the 10th annual NSM-ICC Science and Mathematics Symposium Poster Competition.

Today’s theme is “Conversations with Friends and Funders”.
The day began with a roundtable for federal and non-federal agency representatives, congressional staff members and Cal State Fullerton Deans and Administrators and their guests. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. José Cruz, discussed our new administration, our research strengths and priorities, and our vision of the future of research at Cal State Fullerton. All activities were held at the Fullerton Marriott.
