Broad Definition: The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Domain recognizes a diverse and interdependent world and is deeply rooted in a commitment to building a community that values connection, justice, and change.

Description: Students who engage in programs, activities, and services will celebrate the unique experiences of our Titans and strive to create a sense of belonging for all students. Together, we will establish a welcoming communitythat values cultural awareness, justice, diversity, inclusivity, fairness, and equity. As Titans, we have a responsibility to promote a culture of respect and collaboration.

Power to Transform

Broad Definition: The Power to Transform Domain recognizes leadership abilities of individuals and the significance of resources that facilitate personal development.

Description: Students who engage in programs, activities, and services will unlock their leadership potential by combining collaborative skills, personal growth, and a value-driven approach. Students will develop resilience,enhance critical thinking, leadership skills, and gain practical experience in team-building and public speaking. Participation will equip students to lead with integrity and create meaningful change.

Personal Responsibility

Broad Definition: The Personal Responsibility Domain recognizes the importance of developing a positive sense of self, fostering healthy relationships, and a personal code of ethics.

Description: Students who engage in programs, activities, and services will cultivate valuable skills to engage with the campus community in a meaningful and ethical manner. Students will foster healthy relationships within the campus community based on collaboration and enhance their sense of self by exchanging ideas with peers. Together, our Titans will grow in their understanding of themselves as well as the different needs and perspectives of their fellow Titans.

Practical & Professional Skills Domain

Broad Definition: The Practical & Professional Skills Domain involves students acquiring and integrating skills that prepare them for real-world success.

Description: The development of professional skills prepares students for their post-college careers in a global society by offering opportunities to improve workplace effectiveness in relation to working within a team environment. Students will explore their own work ethic, networking capability, and teamwork.

Social Impact & Connection

Broad Definition: The Social Impact and Connection Domain recognizes the essential networking relationships between our students and the surrounding communities to enrich their curricular and co-curricular experiences at Cal State Fullerton and beyond.

Description: Students who engage in programs, activities, and services will learn the value of community engagement and how they can create a positive impact on the communities around them. Through collaborative opportunities,students will foster and develop their social capital to achieve their own personal and professional goals.

The following were the steps used to develop the five learning domains:

  1. Review the departments within the Division (via the divisional organizational chart)
  2. Discuss the purpose and goals of the variety of programs and services sponsored by different Division departments
  3. Reflect on the intended and unintended learning to students through the variety of program and services
  4. Create themes based on learning, and refine the themes into learning domains
  5. Discuss the purpose of each domain
  6. Identify key words per domain
  7. Distinguish which departments are affiliated with each domain
