History of SWANA Resource Center

The Southwest Asian North African (SWANA) Resource Center at Cal State Fullerton was founded through the vision and advocacy of students who sought greater visibility, community, and belonging on campus. What began as a student-led movement in 2020—when the SWANA student organization was established and the #SWANAtitianexperience campaign gained momentum—grew into a collective effort among students, faculty, and staff to create a dedicated cultural space.

Over the following years, the community’s persistence led to key milestones: the introduction of the SWANA Minor, institutional recognition, and the development of the Center itself. In 2024, the space officially became the SWANA Resource Center, complete with its own mission, logo, and location in PLS-170.

In 2025, the Center hosted its Grand Opening and welcomed its first full-time Coordinator—transforming years of advocacy into a permanent home for learning, cultural celebration, and student support.
