April is Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of SWANA communities. From storytelling and art to activism and scholarship, SWANA individuals have shaped societies across the globe. This month, we honor their resilience, traditions, and impact while fostering greater awareness and appreciation for the diversity within the SWANA region.

Southwest Asian North African Resource Center

The Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) Resource Center is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and creating an empowering space for SWANA communities to embrace their identities and engage in cultural exchange. Through diverse resources, events, and programs, the center supports students in their academic journeys, celebrates their heritage, and promotes a strong foundation for both personal and collective success.

Visit the SWANA Resource Center website to learn more.

Southwest Asian and North African Faculty & Staff Association

The SWANA Faculty-Staff Association (FSA) is dedicated to creating and maintaining a supportive community for Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA)-identifying faculty and staff at our university. We aim to foster a sense of solidarity, recognizing and celebrating both the commonalities and unique experiences within our diverse backgrounds. Our mission is to promote advocacy, community-building, professional development, communication, wellness and work-life balance, recognition and appreciation, and collaboration among SWANA faculty and staff across campus. We come together to support one another, addressing the challenges and barriers we face due to our identities and experiences within academia. We aim to engage in meaningful dialogue with administrators, students, and other campus communities to promote mutual understanding and respect.
