Greg Childers, Ph.D.
Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Studies and General Education

Dr. Childers joined the Department of Physics at CSUF in 2002 as a postdoctoral fellow and part-time faculty member before transitioning to a tenure-track position. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, playing a key role in revitalizing coursework for both physics majors and non-majors while serving as the department's undergraduate advisor. His early contributions earned him recognition as the 2009 College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Outstanding Untenured Faculty Member. Dr. Childers has been deeply engaged in university governance, serving on the Academic Senate since 2017 and currently in his second term on the Senate Executive Committee. His commitment to collegial leadership was recognized with the 2022 John W. "Jack" Bedell Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance Award. Most recently, he successfully guided the campus through a General Education program revision as Director of General Education. Dr. Childers earned his B.A. in Mathematics and Physics from Union College and his Ph.D. in Atomic Physics from the University of Kentucky.
