FUTOSHI NAKAGAWA

Interim Director

Department Role: Works hand in hand with the Assistant Director to provide overall guidance in the development, planning, and implementation of comprehensive services and programs to support the success of the military-connected campus community. 

Education: Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, CSUF.

ALEX ORTEGA

Assistant Director

Department Role: Works collaboratively to design and coordinate programs that academically support veteran and military-connected students, promote access and retention, enrich the college experience, and enhance student development. Serves as an integral part of the center by leading and implementing campus-wide and student affairs initiatives and success efforts. 

Education: Masters of Social Work, CSUF

JAMES CHA

Retention and Success Coordinator

Department Role: Processes and certifies military connected student benefits. Assists students with their academic needs and questions through adivising sessions and resource linkage. 

Education: M.S. in Educational Counseling, USC

RAYMOND GARCIA

Educational Access Coordinator

Department Role:  Provides outreach, advisement, and assistance to prospective student veterans interested in attending CSUF at community colleges, military installations, and local nonprofits.  

Education: B.A. in Business Administration, CSUF. Pursing MSW.

VANESSA ESTRADA 

Administrative Support Coordinator

Department Role: Oversees staff administrative tasks and logistics. Manages pay, scheduling, supply orders, travel, and directive 11s.  Monitors front desk operations and supports all coordinators.

Education: M.A. Sociology, CSULA

 

ALEX PARK 

Certification Coordinator

Department Role: Assists newly admitted and continuing students with their veterans and military education benefits. Works closely with the VRC Retention and Success Coordinator to develop, organize, and complete daily certification activities.

Education: B.S. in Child and Adolescent, CSUF
