Women’s History Month 2025
Celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of women throughout history
Women’s History Month used to be a week-long celebration, which launched the national celebration of Women’s History in 1982. Prior to this date, mobilization and advocacy around the United States facilitated the process of ensuring a nationally institutionalized honoring of Women’s History. In 1987 Congress passed a joint resolution, making March officially “Women’s History Month.” You can read the resolution here. International Women’s Day is also March 8th and is celebrated throughout the world.
Celebrating Women’s History is also about Women’s Present. Throughout the month, we invite faculty, staff, and students to organize events and activities that support and highlight the experiences and contributions of our women-identifying Titans. We encourage our campus community to engage in opportunities for critical inquiry, dialogue, and reflection, with the goal of making our campus a place where women-identifying Titans can work, study, and be their full selves. Through a collective campus effort, we hope to create an environment in which we celebrate and honor women’s experiences and contributions, and center their stories, throughout the entire year.
