Index Page
The first page of your website is named index. Some setups use default or home, but it's the same process.
The internet is set up in such a way, that it looks for this index page automatically. When you came to this site, you came to fullerton.edu/ouv4help, not ouv4help/index.php. This helps to create neat and memorable web addresses (URLs). This is also another reason why tab naming is so important.
Also, the first page in each folder/directory should be named index. This first page should be the introduction to the material that will be found in that tab. In our About Us example, the index file would be the introduction and/or mission statement. I would not have to link to fullerton.edu/site/about/index.php.
So, best practice is to link directly to the folder, not to the index.php file.
TIP: Go ahead and try it. click on any of the tabs on this site. You will see the folder name after the site name, but you will not see index.php on the end.
