How many classes can I repeat for better grades?
You can repeat and replace failing grades in your GPA up to a maximum of 16 units at CSUF.
What happens when I repeat courses beyond the 16 unit limit allowed by the Grade Forgiveness policy?
Both the original and the repeated grade(s) will be included in the GPA calculation. Starting in fall 2009, you will have a 12 unit limit for this type of repeat. The unit limit includes only classes repeated at the campus where student is earning the degree.

Any course taken at CSUF must be re-taken at CSUF in order to be eligible for Grade Forgiveness.

No, you can only earn units for a course once. The first time you earn a D- or better, you earn units even though the course may not meet major or general education requirements.
Must I repeat a class the next semester or with the same instructor to apply the Grade Forgiveness)?
No, you do not have to take the class the next semester or with the same instructor. The class must have the same course name and number (e.g. ENGL 101) in order to apply the Grade Forgiveness. It is generally a good idea to repeat the course the next semester while the material is fresh in your mind.
How many units am I able to Withdraw from?
Undergraduate students may withdraw from no more than 18 semester units. The limits apply to units attempted at the campus.
When will an I be converted to an IC?
Failure to complete the assigned work will result in an “I” being converted to an “IC” (or “NC”) symbol, unless the faculty member assigns a specific letter grade at the time the Incomplete is assigned, which would replace the “I” in the student’s record after the calendar year deadline.
