GE/IGETC Certification

What is Area Certification?

AREA CERTIFIED

  • Certification in a particular area of General Education.
  • For example, if a student has completed 9 units in Arts and Humanities, they would be considered AREA C Certified, but if they have completed only 8 units of Social Science, they would not be AREA D Certified.
How Does This Benefit You Once you Arrive at CSUF?
  1. History 110A & History 110B MAY be waived depending on the areas they are certified in.
  2. Students are required to complete the 9 units of Upper Division GE.
  3. Some Lower Division GE may still be required.
  4. Students will need to choose Upper Division General Education courses from specific areas.
