GE/IGETC Certification

What is CSU GE Certification?

GE Certified - A student who is fully GE Certified has completed the following:

  • 9 semester units of Core Competencies (AREA A)
  • 9 semester units of Math and Science (AREA B)
  • 9 semester units of Arts and Humanities (AREA C)
  • 9 semester units of Social Sciences (AREA D) (including History, Constitution, and American Ideals courses)
  • 3 semester units of Lifelong Learning (AREA E)
How Does This Benefit You Once you Arrive at CSUF?
  1. History 110A & History 110B are Waived Based on Certification.
  2. Students are only required to complete the 9 units of Upper Division GE. (Per Executive Order 1033: "Students admitted to a CSU campus with full certification shall not be held to any additional lower-division general education requirements.")
  3. If students transfer with 12 units in Area B, C or D then they have met the state requirement and have even more options in fulfilling their Upper Division GE.
