-
Automatic Transition to Graduate Status
- You will be switched to graduate (MS) status in the semester you reach 120 total units, including in-progress units.

- Be in good academic standing in both the undergraduate and graduate programs
- Have applied for a graduation check for the bachelor’s degree
-
International students must complete all undergraduate degree requirements before transitioning
Students who do not successfully meet the requirements to transition will be moved back into the appropriate undergraduate degree major
-
Financial and Enrollment Implications After the Switch
Once you move to graduate status:
-
Graduate tuition and fees apply
-
Financial aid eligibility may change because it will be based on graduate student status (please contact the Financial Aid Office)
- You must follow
graduate continuous enrollment rules
- You must remain in good academic standing and comply with all applicable undergraduate GPA requirements while in undergraduate status and all graduate GPA requirements after transitioning to graduate status (including a minimum 3.0 GPA in all MS coursework)
-
Time Limits
- All courses on your Graduate Study Plan must be completed within 5 years (10 consecutive semesters). The time limit starts with the earliest course semester listed on the student's MS Study Plan.
- Extensions up to 7 years require an approved petition
- Older coursework (more than 7 years) may require validation or may expire and have to be repeated
- Courses completed more than 10 years before completing the requirement for the master’s degree are not eligible for validation
-
Academic Standing and Program Continuation
- Academic notice or lack of satisfactory progress may result in removal from the blended program
- If you exit the blended program:
- Double-counting of units will no longer be possible if you are later admitted into the MS program
- Only eligible graduate coursework may transfer to a future MS program (up to 9 units)
