CSUF CEE Student Takes First Place in National Competition
Civil Engineering Student, Beena Ajmera, takes first place in the GeoFlorida 2010 poster competition.
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, FEBRUARY 23, 2010: California State University, Fullerton Civil Engineering undergraduate student, Beena Ajmera wins first place national championship in the poster competition at GeoFlorida 2010, the annual geo-congress of the Geo-Institute of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Ajmera was up against stiff competition from Ph.D. and Masters student’s from fourteen universities selected to participate, many of them among the nation’s top research universities, including Georgia Tech, University of Texas, Austin, Mississippi State University, and Utah State University, Logan. Ajmera was honored yesterday in the national Geo-Institute Hero and Award Luncheon. Beena Ajmera’s faculty advisor, Dr. Binod Tiwari accompanied her to the event and has stated that he could not contain his tears upon hearing her name and university as the winner of the prestigious competition.
The second place winner was a Ph.D. student from Utah State University and third place winner was a Ph.D. student from Mississippi State.
