Welcome Message from Dean Barua,
College of Engineering and Computer Science
Dear Titans,
Welcome to the new academic year and the Fall 2020 semester. Whether you are a new or a returning student, we are very excited to have you here. As the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS), let me extend a personal welcome.
You will be starting your semester in rather unprecedented circumstances and your learning will occur in a primarily virtual setting. Please know that we are all committed to providing an exceptional education and a range of opportunities for you to excel. Your academic success is important to us! As you start the new academic year, please take advantage of the many services and opportunities provided by the College. Please visit
http://www.fullerton.edu/ecs/resources/ to learn more about the support services and resources available in the college.
Student clubs are an integral part of the college. There are roughly 25-30 active organizations in ECS, one of the highest numbers across the academic colleges on campus. I encourage you to become involved with the ECS cultural organizations such as Latinos in Science and Engineering (MAES), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and several professional society chapters related to engineering and computer science. Members of our student chapters participate in national competitions, invite professional speakers on campus, tour local companies, and organize student social activities. Please visit http://www.fullerton.edu/ecs/resources/ecs_student_clubs.php for a complete list of cultural and professional organizations in ECS.
ECS courses are taught by dedicated and enthusiastic faculty members, some of whom have already received national-level recognition for their work. Students will have numerous opportunities to interact with our faculty members and participate in research and design projects. Furthermore, our college partnerships with leading companies enable students and faculty to collaborate on funded projects of mutual interest with engineers and scientists in the industry. Students gain invaluable practical experience and develop the skills necessary to work effectively in an industrial environment.
We are here and ready to support and guide you in navigating through your academic journey. At Cal State Fullerton's College of Engineering and Computer Science, you will learn, invent and explore possibilities. When you graduate, you will be ready to take on a challenging and rewarding career.
We are looking forward to meeting you soon in person!
Best,
Susamma (Susan) Barua, PhD
