Male Youth Empowerment Conference


Friday January 19th, 2018 | 8:00AM-3:00PM

Location: CSU Fullerton

Description:  The conference is geared to support men of color that are 9th and 10th graders. They will be able to gain insight into college life and find encouragement in order to prepare for the next step, COLLEGE. We ask CSU Fullerton men of color to join us to at the conference to help empower the youth to pursue higher education.

Moment of Brotherhood


Thursday February 1st, 2018 | 4:00PM-6:30PM

Location: TSU Legislative Chambers 1 & 2 (2nd Floor)

Description: This event will provide a space designed to uplift our CSUF Men of Color by engaging them in reflective activities and conversations that encourages them to realize what they have within their community. Participants will conclude the session with a brotherhood photo and everyone will receive a commemorative “I Am A Man” poster.

MENS SUCCESS SERIES:  What Does it Mean  to Be a Man?


Thursday February 22nd, 2018 | 4:00PM-6:00PM

Location: Juniper 150 (Housing)

Description: As the first event in the Men's Success Series, this event will allow students to engage them in a conversation about the obstacles they face on their path to success. Through a series of reflective activities, participants will explore and critically evaluate society's views on cisgender manhood and heteronormativity as they redefine it in accordance to their own personal experiences. The ultimate goal is for participants to walk out with an understanding of their own masculinities as a key component of their overall identities. This learning experience will in turn emphasize and raise awareness on the importance of physical and mental health in order to succeed at every level.

A²MEND Conference

Location: Downtown Los Angeles

Description:  The African American Male Educational Network and Development (A²MEND) organization is comprised of African American male administrators who utilize their scholarly and professional expertise to foster institutional change within the community college system. We aim to create an affirming academic and professional environment for African Americans with a particular focus on African American male students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Description:  The second event in the Men's Success Series, will challenge students to reflect on methods to strengthen existing healthy relationships and address opportunities to combat unhealthy relationships that could impact his path to success. The goal is for participants to realize that all men are gendered beings, and our interactions with the world can reinforce or dismantle masculine rules of engagement with: women, children, authority figures, education professionals, sports world, social life, the LGBTQ community, as well as bonds with other men.

Description:  The Male Success Alliance Annual Spring Summit is designed to equip young men with the tools and resources necessary for post-secondary success. The summit targets local middle schools and high school students and brings them to campus for an event that is comprised of a keynote speaker, interactive workshops, and a college and resource fair.

Description:  The third event in the Men's Success Series, is meant to uplift and encourage male students to recognize that first impressions matter, and we want to help you LOOK the part as you continue on your path to success.  The goal is for participants to walk away knowing their tailored suite size, correct dress shirt size, and styling tips that could make or break a first impression in professional and educational spaces.  Additionally, a grooming and barber expert will demonstrate practical ways gentlemen can still afford to stay groomed and sharp even on a budget.

Description: What is MSI-Fullerton's Signing Day?

MSI-Fullerton is taking the popular "Signing Day" to the next level.  Signing Day isn't just what sports teams our Men of Color are deciding to play for, it is also what Graduate Schools they choose to attend, what Careers they decided to enter, and what post-graduation opportunities they choose to complete.  Each senior who attends will receive a token of congrats on behalf of MSI-Fullerton to jump start your 1st day as a CSUF Alumni.

Description: The MSI-Fullerton staff is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduating brothers as well as the commitment and hard work of those brothers who are continuing their CSUF journey.  There will be a path to potential ceremony which will induct the active students throughout the academic year. The Gathering will also serve as the introduction of those incoming Freshmen selected as our 2018 MSI-Success Scholars Cohort.

MSI Style Guide

Business Casual: Dress shirt &/or tie, dress pants, dress shoes or loafers, (suit, blazer, carding, or sweater optional)

Campus Casual: What you typically would wear to class, (except NO slippers, or flip-flops, sweats or b-ball shorts etc...)

CSUF Gear: CSUF t-shirt, polo, jersey, hat, etc... khaki pants/shorts, appropriate shorts of any color, jeans (no rips), tennis shoes, or loafers

Recreational Casual: (B-ball shorts, sweat shorts, t-shirt, hat, tennis shoes, etc…) 

[Tips to stay cool:  bring a sweat rag, wear sunscreen, bring an additional shirt and deodorant, bring an extra bottle of water etc…]
