Arena Theatre

The 100-seat Arena Theatre (located near the Recital Hall and Little Theatre) is home to the Department of Theatre and Dance’s “Studio Series” as well as student cabarets and showcases.

Hallberg Theatre

The 150-seat Hallberg Theatre is built in the black box tradition and features flexible seating to create both "in the round" or more traditional setups. This space features experimental and rarely performed Theatre productions and frequesntly showcases new plays. In recent years, it has also been home to intimately staged versions of Dance Theatre concerts.

Little Theatre

The 480-seat Little Theatre presents many of the Department of Theatre and Dance's musical productions and Dance Theatre concerts. It is also the venue for the biannual College of the Arts Opera, a collaboration between the Department of Theatre and Dance and School of Music.

William J. McGarvey Family Dance Studio

The William J. McGarvey Family Dance Studio is designed for instruction and performance. This studio is used to showcase new dance choreography and to feature individual dance recitals.

Other studios include the Kathryn T. McCarty Dance Studio, Dhont Family Foundation Dance Studio, and the Jerry Samuelson Musical Theatre Studio

Recital Hall

The 200-seat Recital Hall presents more intimate music performances, including chamber music and student and guest recitals. The hall is also used for School of Music opera productions and scenes.

Vaughncille Joseph Meng Concert Hall

Lauded for its outstanding acoustics, the 800-seat Vaughncille Joseph Meng Concert Hall (frequently referred to as Meng Concert Hall) engages the listener with its unobstructed sound. Unlike many conservatories and even other public universities, student ensembles and guest artists alike perform in this high-caliber venue.

Young Theatre

The 250-seat James D. Young Theatre is the major stage for dramatic productions presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance. This thrust-stage theatre is designed to bring the actors to the center of the space with seating on three sides, both on the floor level and in the balcony. This intimate space is designed to engage the audience and make the theatre-going experience more meaningful and immediate.
