A snapshot of CSUF's Titan workforce

This month’s Data of the Month provides an up-to-date snapshot of CSUF’s Titan workforce, highlighting employee composition across colleges, divisions, and demographics.

These data provide a high-level view of the 4,208 faculty and staff* who support and advance CSUF each day and reveal key insights into diversity and representation across the workforce.

 

Demographics

Age:

  • The average employee age is 45.3, suggesting a mix of early-, mid-, and advanced-career professionals.

 

Ethnicity (IPEDS Definition):

  • Employees who identify as White (39.4%) and Hispanic/Latino (27.9%) make up the largest groups.

  • Employees who identify as Asian (19.6%) represent a significant portion of the workforce.

  • The other employee ethnicities include Black/African American (5.1%), unknown (2.7%), two or more ethnicities (2.5%), non-residents (2.4%), and American Indian/Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander (0.2% each).

 

Composition

Faculty* Distribution by College:

  • The largest share of faculty is in Humanities & Social Sciences (24.2%), followed by Health & Human Development (14.6%), then Business & Economics (14.3%).

  • Arts (12.9%) and Natural Sciences & Mathematics (10.6%) also represent significant portions.

  • The rest of the faculty are in Education (6.4%), Communications (6.3%), and Engineering & Computer Science (6.3%), with the remaining faculty (4.4%) representing specialized areas.

 

Staff* Distribution by Division:

  • Academic Affairs (40.7%) represents the largest share of staff.

  • Administration & Finance (20.2%) and Student Affairs & Strategic Enrollment Management (17.6%) also account for substantial portions of the workforce.

  • The rest of the staff are in Information Technology (8.9%), Human Resources & Inclusive Excellence (5.2%), the President’s Office (4.0%), and University Advancement (3.4%).
