Workforce demands in our service region

 

CSUF uses Lightcast’s labor market data to gauge workforce demand and help prepare students to be career-ready. The data in this infographic reflect job postings from April 2024 through March 2025 within CSUF's service region, which includes Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. The data are limited to job postings that require Bachelor's or Master's degrees.


New data reveal the region's top in-demand skills by employers, the top companies hiring, and the top in-demand occupations and their potential salary.

Ranked by the number of unique job postings where employers listed a skill as desirable.

    1. Communication, listed in 173,832 postings.

    2. Management, listed in 131,852 postings.

    3. Leadership, listed in 97,599 postings.

    4. Operations, listed in 88,682 postings.

    5. Customer Service, listed in 75,199 postings.

 

Top 5 Companies Hiring

Ranked by the number of unique job postings published by an employer. 

    1. University of California published 3,698 postings.

    2. Kaiser Permanente published 3,045 postings.

    3. Coast Community College District published 2,700 postings.

    4. Northrop Grumman published 2,342 postings.

    5. Disney published 2,133 postings. 

 

Top 5 In-Demand Occupations & Median Salary**:

Ranked by the number of unique job postings for occupations and includes the median advertised salary for each occupation.

    1. Registered nurse appeared in 18,640 postings, with a median salary of $121.7K.

    2. Medical & health services managers appeared in 8,729 postings, with a median salary of $92.4K. 

    3. Sales representatives in wholesale & manufacturing (except for technical & scientific products)
      appeared in 8,443 postings, with a median salary of $76.5K. 

    4. Software developers appeared in 8,092 postings, with a median salary of $150.3K. 

    5. Computer occupations (all other) appeared in 7,400 postings, with a median salary of $143.1K.
