About the Graduate Studies Center

The Graduate Studies Center (GSC)’s goal is to empower graduate students to utilize the full range of resources and opportunities at CSUF. The GSC aims to serve prospective and current students through their journey in graduate school. We provide high-quality writing support, academic and professional development workshops, and a safe and welcoming space for graduate students to find their community on-campus.

Workshops and Events

The GSC is happy to provide workshops and events for prospective and current CSUF graduate students. We are also proud to promote our campus partners' events that are relevant for our prospective and current graduate students.

New Graduate Student Orientation

Congratulations to our newly admitted graduate students! We host a New Graduate Student Orientation Webinar in the fall semester to introduce CSUF campus resources to our new Titans. Below you can find all resources from the most recent Orientation.

If you have any additional questions about this Orientation, please reach out to the Graduate Studies Center.

Private Study Room Reservations

The GSC has a private study room that can be reserved by current graduate students. This small room includes a large whiteboard, one desk, two chairs, and charging outlets, and can accommodate a maximum of 3 students. As the GSC only has one private study room available, students are limited to booking the room for a maximum of 3 consecutive hours per day. Students can book the study room up to 2 weeks in advance, but same-day booking is not allowed. Students may use the study room on a first-come, first-served basis if the study room is not reserved. The GSC has the right to cancel reservations for any reason without warning. The GSC private study room is only available for reservation during the fall and spring semesters.

If you are using the room, you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself and restoring the room to the condition you found it in. The GSC is not responsible for any items left unattended in the room. Please promptly vacate the room shortly before the GSC closes. By creating an appointment, you agree to these terms of use. If the private study room is not available during the time(s) you are interested in booking, additional rooms can be reserved throughout Pollak Library . More information on how to book Pollak Library rooms can be found on their website.

Private study room reservations can be made on TitanNet with your CSUF username and password. If this is your first time making a reservation, follow the step-by-step guide on How to Make and Cancel a GSC Private Study Room Reservation .

Writing Appointments

The GSC offers free one-on-one Writing Appointments to all CSUF graduate students. Our skilled Writing Consultants are happy to help you with any writing assignment you encounter in your graduate program. Writing appointments are interactive and collaborative sessions. Writing Consultants are not editors and cannot make changes to your work. Please note the following about writing appointments:

  • Students may make 1 appointment per week. Appointments are set for 1 hour and are hosted via Zoom.
  • Appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance and can fill up quickly, so book well in advance of your assignment due dates. If no dates and times are shown on TitanNet, all of our writing appointment times have been claimed. We invite you to regularly check the appointment system in the event of cancellations.
  • Appointments are currently available in the fall and spring semesters.
  • If you are an undergraduate student in need of writing support, please visit the CSUF Writing Center. If you are interested in receiving support related to resumes, cover letters, and graduate school application materials, the CSUF Career Center provides in-person and Zoom advising.

Writing Appointments can be booked on TitanNet with your CSUF username and password. If this is your first time making an appointment, follow the step-by-step guide on How to Make and Cancel a GSC Writing Appointment.
