Early Assurance Programs (EAP)
Early Assurance Programs (EAPs) provide a pathway for highly qualified students to secure early consideration for admission to select health professional schools while completing their studies at CSUF. These programs are designed for students who demonstrate strong academic performance and a clear commitment to a career in healthcare.
EAPs typically involve a competitive application process, including faculty and professional school interviews. Students who are accepted must continue to meet academic and program-specific requirements throughout their undergraduate or post-baccalaureate coursework before matriculating into the professional program.
Participating institutions include programs in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, and podiatric medicine. Requirements and timelines vary by school.
Articulation Agreements
Articulation agreements are formal partnerships between CSUF and select health professional schools that provide a structured pathway for eligible students to apply and, in some cases, receive guaranteed or conditional admission to a professional program upon completion of specific requirements.
Unlike Early Assurance Programs, articulation agreements are typically based on clearly defined academic benchmarks, such as GPA thresholds, prerequisite coursework, and faculty committee recommendations. Students must also complete their undergraduate degree at CSUF and meet all admission criteria set by the participating institution.
Current agreements include partnerships with select international medical schools, including American University of Antigua (AUA) and St. George’s University (SGU), for students pursuing medicine in the Caribbean pathway.
Eligibility
Eligibility for linkage programs varies by program type, academic level, and participating professional school. Students must meet both CSUF requirements and individual program requirements to be considered.
Undergraduate Students
Most linkage programs require students to be in good academic standing at CSUF and to have completed specific prerequisite coursework. Students are typically expected to apply no later than their junior year.
Common eligibility factors may include:

- Strong academic performance in key prerequisite courses

Pre-Health Professions Certificate (PHPC) Students
PHPC students may be eligible for select linkage programs designed specifically for post-baccalaureate preparation. Eligibility is based on academic performance within the certificate program and prior undergraduate preparation.
Common expectations may include:
- Strong performance in PHPC science coursework
- Competitive MCAT, DAT, OAT, or equivalent exam scores (where applicable)
- Demonstrated academic readiness for professional study
- Program and committee approval

Application Process
The application process for linkage programs is competitive and varies by program and participating professional school. While specific requirements may differ, most students will follow a similar general process outlined below.

- Selected applicants may be invited to participate in an evaluation process, which can include a CSUF Health Professions Committee review and/or interview

Submit Application to Partner Institution
- If approved through CSUF, students may then submit materials to the participating professional school according to that program’s instructions.

- Applicants may be required to complete additional interviews or requirements as determined by the partner institution.

Receive Admission Decision
- Students are notified of their admission status based on the review process of the participating program. If accepted, students must continue to meet all academic and program requirements through matriculation.
Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation are an important part of the linkage application process. Most programs require a combination of faculty evaluations, committee letters, and/or additional recommendations depending on the participating professional school.
CSUF Health Professions Committee Letter
Many linkage programs require a committee letter from the CSUF Health Professions Committee. This letter is based on an evaluation of your academic performance, faculty feedback, and overall readiness for professional school.
To be considered for a committee letter, students must complete the CSUF committee evaluation process and meet all posted deadlines.
Faculty Letters of Recommendation
Individual faculty letters may also be required depending on the linkage program. These letters typically come from science faculty who can speak to your academic performance, particularly in prerequisite coursework.
Additional Letters (If Required by Program)
Some partner institutions may require additional letters of recommendation beyond the CSUF committee letter and faculty evaluations. Requirements vary by program and will be listed in the specific linkage details.
