What can I bring?

Can I purchase a microfridge?

Yes. Students may bring or purchase a refrigerator that meets Housing requirements. Refrigerators are not required to be purchased through the MicroFridge program and may be purchased or leased from any vendor.

    • Residence Halls (Elm, Fig, Holly, Juniper, Pine): One (1) refrigerator is permitted per room.
    • Suites (Laurel, Noble, Redwood): One (1) refrigerator is permitted per room.
    • Apartments (Acacia, Birch, Manzanita, Oak, Willow, Jewel Plummer Cobb): Personal mini-refrigerators or refrigerators are not permitted unless approved through Disability Support Services (DSS) as a housing accommodation.
    Because only one refrigerator is permitted per room in the residence halls and suites, we strongly encourage students to communicate with their roommate before bringing a refrigerator to campus to avoid bringing more than one. Note: All refrigerators must comply with Housing requirements, including having a required drip pan.

Can I bring or purchase a microwave?

Personal microwaves are not permitted in the residence halls or suites. Students who would like a microwave are strongly encouraged to lease or purchase a MicroFridge . The MicroFridge is a combination refrigerator and microwave unit that is approved for use in Housing and is the easiest way to have both appliances in your room.

What are the suggested items to bring?

    • We suggest you bring toiletries, bedding for XL twin, laundry supplies, flashlight and batteries

How do I check in?

  • Students will be completing self check in.

Important:

  • Students assigned to single apartments (Willow, Manzanita, Oak, Birch, and Acacia) must pick up their physical apartment keys from a staff person at the info tent in the oval on move in day at their assigned building.
  • Students assigned to the Residence Halls, Suites, and Jewel Plummer Cobb will use their Titan Card to access their room and residential community.

What time do I move in?

We ask students arrive based on their buidling floor:

First Year residential halls - Elm, Fig

  • 1st Floor 8:00 – 9:20 AM 
  • 2nd Floor - 9:20 – 11:00 AM 
  • 3rd Floor - 11:00 AM – 12:40 PM 
  • 4th Floor - 12:40 – 2:20 PM 
  • 5th Floor - 2:20 – 4:00 PM 

First Year residential hall - Holly

  • 1st Floor - 8:00 – 9:00 AM
  • 2nd Floor - 9:00 – 10:45 AM
  • 3rd Floor - 10:45 AM – 12:30 PM

Reminder: Students assigned to the Single Bed Apartments will need to get their physical key providing access to their specific bedrooms. Failure to return keys at the end of the Academic Year will result in a $50 lost key fee per key.

  • 1st Floor - 8:00 – 9:00 AM  
  • 2nd Floor- 9:00 – 10:25 AM 
  • 3rd Floor - 10:25 – 11:50 AM

Note: Residents in JPC will have graduate assistants in the lobby answering questions or need assistance.

Can I switch rooms?

  • Once room assignments have been finalized, we are unable to accommodate requests to change room assignments.
  • CSUF is primarily a commuter campus, with approximately 40,000 students enrolled and on-campus housing available for about 2,700 students. Because housing is in high demand and our communities are currently at capacity, room assignment changes are not available. We also do not maintain waitlists for specific buildings, room types, housing communities, or occupancy types.

Note: If you are requesting a room change due to a disability or medical housing accommodation, you must first contact Disability Support Services (DSS). DSS will review your request and coordinate with Housing & Residential Engagement if an accommodation is approved.

Can I switch roommates?

  • If you are experiencing a conflict with your roommate, we encourage you to first work with your Resident Advisor (RA) to begin the roommate conflict resolution process. If the issue continues to persist/escalate please reach out to your Community Coordinator for additional guidance and next steps.

  • If approved for a room change, the Room Change Request Form opens approximately two weeks after the first day of the semester. Please note that room changes are not guaranteed. Any approved room changes are based on available space at the time of the request, and students may only be offered the room types or locations that are available and eligible for.

Do I need a permit to park on campus?

  • First-year residents:  Lot S8 only.  
  • Others:  R1, R2, R3, and overflow S8.  

Buy permits online starting August 10. All cars must have a valid Resident Permit after 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 22.  

Note: The Resident Shuttle for the Fall semester will begin on Sunday, August 23rd. The resident shuttle runs Sunday through Thursday, from 7:00 pm- 2:00 am.
