Dear Department Schedulers,

 

The Spring 2026 class schedule is now copied from Spring 2025.

 

Access in Coursedog to build/edit Spring 2026 classes will open on Monday, April 7^th.

Friendly reminder to only use first rights rooms belonging to your department/college.  Classes using general-use classrooms outside of their first rights will have the classroom removed.

Provided is a list of first rights rooms by College.

Thanks to everyone who attended today’s Spring 2026 Build Phase training!

We are glad to let everyone know that we will run Optimizer this semester, helping to alleviate the pressure of finding rooms after first rights expire.

 

Spring 2026 Schedule Build Timeline:

• • • Take advantage of first rights allocations to house classes. Consult with your Dean’s Office for earlier deadlines, additional guidelines, and resources.
    • Friday 5/30/2025 = Last day to use first rights rooms.
    • Monday 6/2/2025: First rights are released, where ownership reverts to the Provost’s Office. Coursedog will still display the First Rights Violation Rules while Scheduling prepares to run Optimizer.
    • Scheduling will run Optimizer to auto-house as many sections as possible on all colleges’ behalf. 
    • Scheduling will send a notification when Optimizer has run, including which additional classes were housed.
    • For classes that are still unhoused, consider changing to a non-peak time or lowering the enrollment cap.  Use Coursedog to house remaining classes, as the first rights rules will turn off.
    • Before Build Phase ends:
      • Be sure to set to Tentative any classes that are unable to find a room.
      • Verify that all online/hybrid classes are built correctly where the in-person meeting pattern listed first.
      • Verify that all graduate level classes are set to fixed units, with FA Units = 1.5.

Our office will continue to work on providing resources to help with identifying meeting patterns that have available rooms. More info to come!
