About Campus Computer Labs

The Information and Learning Commons (ILC) integrates information resources, technological resources, and human resources to provide full service student support for research, writing assistance, and production of papers and projects in a single environment. The ILC supports the evolving technology needs of students and facilitates new models of teaching and learning.

The ILC supports various computer labs within the Pollak Library, including the Titan Lab and Student Genius Corner.

Computer Labs

Pollak Library

ILC Oasis North

  • Pollak Library North, 1st Floor
  • Open computer lab for students, faculty, staff, and patrons of the Library.
  • Equipped with 133 PCs & 10 Macs; Disabled student workstations; Black & white and color laser printers; Print-only/Lookup stations; Wireless Access Points; Work space for laptops and collaborative activities

ILC Oasis South

  • Pollak Library South, 1st Floor
  • Open, self-service computer lab for students, faculty, staff, and patrons of the Library.
  • Equipped with 36 PCs; Black & white laser printers; Print-only/Lookup stations; Wireless Access Points; Work space for laptops and collaborative activities

ILC 2nd Floor

  • Pollak Library North & Bridge
  • Open, self-service computer lab for students, faculty, staff, and patrons of the Library.
  • Equipped with 34 PCs on the north & 5 PCs on the bridge; Black & white laser printers; Print-only/Lookup stations; Wireless Access Points; Work space for laptops and collaborative activities

ILC 4th Floor

  • Pollak Library North
  • Open, self-service computer area for students and patrons of the Library.
  • Equipped with 51 Macs in the AV rooms and study spaces; Print-only/Lookup stations; Wireless Access Points; Work space for laptops and collaborative activities

Titan Lab

  • Pollak Library North, Basement
  • Open computer lab for students, faculty, staff, and patrons of the Library.
  • Equipped with 213 PCs & 5 Macs; including Disabled student workstations; 6 scanner stations; Black & white and color laser printers; Print-only/Lookup stations; Wireless Access Points; CSVT machine for loading funds on your TitanCard; Work space for laptops and collaborative activities

Virtual Computer Lab
  • Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) allows CSUF students, faculty, and staff to access university-licensed computer applications via the Internet.

Technology Services for Students

ILC Support Desk

  • Provides students with basic computer support relating to programs installed on the computers and miscellaneous questions about the Library and campus.
  • Maintains the check-out and reservations for the seven Equipped Group Study Rooms (Smart Rooms). 
  • Rents out laptops/iPads to students for use within the Library.
  • Assigns guest accounts for patrons of the library.

Titan Lab Support Desk

  • Provides students with basic computer support relating to programs installed on the computers and miscellaneous questions about the Library and campus.
  • Houses the Student Genius Corner & Testing Center
Student Genius Corner (SGC)
  • Located in Titan Lab
  • The SGC provides a number of services to students, including an online reservation system for students to make appointments, and also supports the Testing Center.
  • Some of the services provided: Long-term Laptop Checkout for Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) classes; Technical assistance, such as wireless network/printer connection, installing campus related software, etc. for personal laptops and smart phones; etc.

Equipped Group Study Rooms (Smart Rooms)

  • There are seven Equipped Group Study Rooms located on the first and second floors of Library North.
  • Rooms may be checked out by currently enrolled CSUF students, with no holds, and are intended for student class/study-related purposes only. Rooms must be checked out to groups of two or more.
  • Rooms are equipped with smart classroom lectern, flat panel TVs, projectors, web-cams, smart board, scanners, DVD players, and more.
  • Students can make reservations one week in advance online
  • Students will need to come to the ILC Support Desk to check-out the room.

Laptop/iPad Rentals

SGC Long-Term Laptops

  • Students are able to check-out laptops for 30 days and can be renewed up to four times during the semester.
  • This service is a perfect solution for students who don’t have access to a computer from home, as well as those who are taking a class that uses the Virtual Computing Lab (VCL).

ILC Hourly Laptops

  • Students are able to checkout laptops from the ILC Support Desk for use within the Library.
  • The laptops can be checked-out for 4 hours.

iPads

  • Students are able to checkout iPads from the ILC Support Desk for use within the Library.
  • The iPads can be checked-out for 4 hours.

Testing Center

  • The student testing center allows students to take TITANium based online tests for certain courses that they are enrolled in. Eligibility for online tests is determined by the professor.
  • Faculty are able to reserve Testing Center services for their online classes.
  • The Testing Center consists of 7 cubicles equipped with PCs using LanSchool and is monitored by cameras.
  • An online reservation system is set up for students to book their test date and time for their online courses that utilize the service.

Printing-Only/Lookup  Stations

  • Printing-Only/Lookup stations are located in ILC Oasis North & South, ILC 2nd Floor, & Titan Lab.
  • Students are able to look up their campus username, CWID, and/or reset their campus password from these stations.
  • Student can also use these stations to print their work quickly without waiting for available computer.

CSVT (Card Systems Value Terminal) Machine

  • The CSVT is a machine that is hosted by TitanCard that allows students to add funds to their TitanCard in order to pay for their printing services.
  • There is one in the Library located in Titan Lab.
  • Students and patrons of the Library can also purchase a Copy Card from the machine which they can then add funds to, in order to pay for their printing services.
Computer Availability Screens
  • Displays the number of available computers in Information and Learning Commons computer labs.
  • The screens are located at the main entrance of Pollak Library, ILC Support Desk, & Titan Lab Support Desk.
  • Computer Availability is also available for mobile devices (iOS, Android, Windows) via the iFullerton app.

Wireless Services

Students are able to connect to the wireless network on campus. They can also connect to network printers in order to print. Please refer to the following manuals for more information:

Printing Services

Black & White Laser Printers

  • Located on each floor of the Library North and ILC Oasis South.
  • Students are able to send their print jobs to any printer located in each service area.

Color Laser Printers

  • Located in ILC Oasis North and Titan Lab.
  • Students are able to send their print jobs to any printer located in each service area.

Wireless Printing

  • Students are able to connect wirelessly to any of the printers in ILC and Titan Lab.

Print-Only Stations

  • Located on each floor of the Library North, & ILC Oasis South.
  • Students can print documents from their flash drives, CDs, or campus email that don’t require any editing and are ready for printing from these stations.

  • Librarians provide students with research and reference assistance.

  • Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the general public can borrow/check-out library materials

University Learning Center (ULC), located in Pollak Library North, 2nd Floor

  • Tutoring help provided for more than 60 courses including those in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) areas; in humanities and social sciences; as well as in other subjects.
  • ULC staff also provides study skills and test taking strategies workshops as well as pronunciation and writing workshops for English learners.

Writing Center, located in Pollak Library North, 1st Floor

Disability Support Services (DSS) Adaptive Technology Center, located in Pollak Library North, 1st Floor

  • Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the general public with disabilities in need of research services may use the Office of DSS Adaptive Technology Center.
  • The room is equipped with screen readers, screen magnification and large displays, computer-based reading machines, and closed circuit television magnification systems. 
  • To gain access, all users must have received training and authorization from DSS.

TitanCard, located in Pollak Library South, 1st Floor

  • TitanCard is the official identification card issued by the University to students, faculty, staff or other authorized individuals for the sole purpose of identification and access to campus facilities, services and activities.

Other ILC Services

Guest Registration

  • Patrons of the Library may use the computers in Pollak Library by signing up for a Guest Account.
  • Visitors begin the guest registration process at the designated guest registration computers in ILC Oasis North. They will then need to check-in at the ILC Support Desk, where they are assigned with a guest account.
  • Guests are required to provide a valid picture ID at the time of check-in.
  • Guest accounts are active for 24 hours only.
Events
  • Limited computer lab reservations for campus-wide events are provided. Couple examples are New Student Orientation (NSO) program and Collegiate Learning Assessment. To find out if we can accommodate your space request, please  email  SGC@fullerton.edu.

Student Employment

Currently enrolled CSUF students are hired as consultants for Titan Lab and ILC.

Applicants must have outstanding customer service skills, previous experience with PCs and Macs and knowledge of software currently installed on the lab workstations.
