Installation and Break-fix support
We support all the software on our PC and Mac "images". What is a computer image? IT defines a computer image as a set of software packages that we have customized for a certain hardware platform. We currently have numerous images for most of the standard campus hardware we support. We invest many hours customizing our software images to reduce software issues. Here is a list of supported software on our campus images: Windows 7 Enterprise, Microsoft Office 2010, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Adobe Flash player, Adobe Reader, Adobe Air, Adobe Shockwave Player, iTunes, QuickTime, iLife, Java, and FileNet. We also support the following software packages that are not included on our standard campus image: Adobe Creative products, SPSS, SAS, and iWork.
Home Use Software
The following software titles are available to full-time and part-time faculty and staff for home use only. Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade Only), Window 8 Professional 64-bit (Upgrade Only),Vista Ultimate, Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 2013, Mac Office 2008, Mac Office 2011, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, IBM SPSS Statistics 21, SAS Version 6, SAS Version 9.3, and VPN. These applications are available through the CSU Microsoft Campus Enterprise Agreement and licensing with SPSS.
To obtain copies of the available at home use software packages, please complete the online form. When the software is ready, you will receive an email confirmation asking that you bring your CSUF identification card with you to the TitanCard counter in PLS-140 for your software pick up.
Please note that the license agreement between the CSU and Microsoft does NOT cover technical support from Microsoft, rather the IT Helpdesk will provide the installation support. For development tools such as Visual Studio the advanced user who utilizes the application typically provides their own support. Faculty and staff may wish to consider additional support mechanisms, such as purchasing books or logging on to Microsoft paid support directly (see http://support.microsoft.com/directory/). Because of the risks involved in upgrading Windows, we recommend that only advanced users perform operating system installations.
