Excellence in Student Leadership Award
Amount: $500
Established by: The Excellence in Student Leadership Award was established by Robert and Beverly Palmer and the Division of Student Affairs to provide recognition to a freshman or sophomore student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to student leadership at California State University, Fullerton.
Open to: This award is open to CSUF students of freshman or sophomore standing.
Criteria: 2.5 GPA • Significant involvement in a student leadership position • Intent to be in a leadership position throughout college career.
Application Procedure: 1) Complete the Excellence in Student Leadership Award application form which can be obtained in the Dean of Student’s Office, Titan Student Union 235, or the Vice President for Student Affairs Office, Langsdorf Hall 805; 2) Complete a one page essay, typed and double-spaced, describing student leadership positions held to date and intentions for future student leadership roles at CSUF (see application for content suggestions); 3) Provide resume; 4) Provide one letter of recommendation from CSUF staff or faculty; and 5) Submit completed application and materials to Titan Student Union 235, (714) 278-3211.

The “Big Save” Scholarship
Amount: $4,000
Established by: This award was established by Sharon Arkin and Rodger Talbott in memory of George Howard Talbott. Sharon and Rodger share a deep passion for higher education and believe that it is a vital part of a person’s development. The couple has a long history with Cal State Fullerton through their involvement with the “A Bid of Excitement Auction” and University Advancement staff. Sharon and Rodger wanted to establish a scholarship not purely based on academic excellence but rather on hard work and a true need for financial support. Applicants should not be discouraged to apply due to a lower GPA. They hope to help someone who would not be able to attend college without this support. This is why they call it the “Big Save” scholarship.

Chicano Latino Faculty and Staff (CLFSA) Association Scholarship
Amount: Varies ($500 for undergraduates; $600 for graduate students)
Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by the Cal State Fullerton CLFS Association to assist students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance. In addition, this scholarship recognizes leadership and service within the University and community.
Open to: This scholarship is open to all majors; full-time undergraduate and graduate students who will be enrolled full-time at CSUF for the next academic year
Criteria: 2.5 GPA for undergraduates • 3.2 GPA for graduate students • Leadership • Active involvement in community and/or campus organizations • Financial need • Demonstrated commitment and significant contributions to the Latino communit

Future Scholars Program
Amount: Up to $1,000
Established by: This award was established by the CSU Scholarship Program for the Future in an effort to increase college participation of disadvantaged students.
Open to: This award is open to first-time freshmen/first-time transfer students who meet regular CSUF admission requirements as a new CSU freshman or transfer student.
Criteria: 2.5 GPA • Significant contributions to school and community • Financial need

Dorothy M. Hagan and Juanita W. Hicks Achievement Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Established by: This scholarship was established by the family of Dorothy M. Hagan and Juanita W. Hicks to provide financial assistance, based on merit and financial need, to continuing CSUF undergraduate students.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing CSUF undergraduate students in any course of study.
Criteria: Merit • Financial need
Application Procedure: 1) Complete the scholarship application, available in McCarthy Hall 133; 2) Submit two letters of recommendation; one of the letters must be from a CSUF faculty member; for incoming freshman applicants, this letter should be from a high school teacher or counselor. LINC TELACU Scholarship Program
Amount: Up to $1,000
Established by: This scholarship is funded by LINC (Latino Initiatives for the Next Century) TELACU Scholarship Program, the Office of the President, Student Academic Services, and the Office of the Vice President and is awarded annually to low income, first generation college students who will be enrolled full-time.
Open to: This scholarship is open to students who reside in or have resided in Los Angeles, Montebello, Commerce, Bell Gardens, Monterey Park, South Gate, Huntington Park, Pico Rivera, Santa Ana and East Los Angeles, Pomona and the Inland Empire; applicant may be either incoming first-time freshman or a continuing student.
Criteria: 2.5 GPA • School or community activities

President’s Scholars Program
Amount: In-state CSU enrollment fees for four years; $750 annually for books and supplies; use of a laptop computer; complimentary parking; priority registration; automatic admittance to the University Honors Program; priority consideration for on-campus housing.
Established by: This scholarship is funded by the President’s Associates. The Front & Center fundraising event provides all Presidents’ Scholars with $750 annually for books and supplies. Dell Computers and Titan Shops provide each scholar the use of a laptop computer. Each year, at least 10 students from the current year of California high-school graduates are selected. National Merit Scholars, finalists or semi-finalists are offered an automatic interview. President’s Scholars are selected by a committee of faculty administrators, students and community representatives. President’s Scholars attend special seminars and selected social, cultural and athletic events, receive letters of recommendation from the President, and are honored in other special ways.

Daphne Tinsley Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Established by: This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Daphne Tinsley, former CSUF employee in the Office of Financial Aid.
Open to: This award is open to disadvantaged, incoming freshmen students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree.
Criteria: 3.5 GPA • Extra curricula activities • Community involvement • Leadership • Financial need

World Citizen Award
Amount: $200
Established by: This scholarship is created and funded by the North Orange County International Friendship Council,a community volunteer organization providing assistance and hospitality to international students attending Cal State Fullerton. The recipient is recognized at the annual International Student Commencement Celebration. Selection process may include an interview with selection committee
Open to: This scholarship is open to all students.
Criteria: Demonstrated involvement, on and off campus, in building international understanding

Myrt Purkiss Scholarship
Amount: Two $1,000 awards
Established by: This scholarship was established by the Art Department. Recipients will be honored at a luncheon in December.
Open to: This scholarship is open to full-time incoming first-time freshmen with visual arts majors.

MUSIC
New Students
Scholarships for entering students are based upon performance at auditions held in early Spring of each year. Decisions are made in consideration of the quality of the student’s audition, the donors’ wishes and the Department’s needs.
Scholarship amounts may range from modest assistance for one year to full-fee awards for four years. In some cases, scholarships awarded for one or two years may be renewed. Students should submit only one scholarship application to the Music Department. They will then be considered for all scholarships for which they may be eligible.
Prospective students with outstanding high school records are urged to apply for the “President’s Scholars Program”, a CSUF award for California residents that provides a full four-year scholarship and many other benefits (see page 21).
Charles Baker Scholarship (Cello)

The Really Groovy Dance Scholarship in Tribute to Rollie and Louis
Amount: $500 (dependent upon funding)
Established by: This scholarship was established to assist with payment of registration fees for a student with strong artistic ability and commitment to a career in dance. Pageantry trained students are encouraged to apply. No formal dance training needed prior to obtaining scholarship.

Amount: $750 (dependent upon funding)
Established by: This scholarship was established to assist students who are pursuing teaching as a career.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing Theatre and Dance students who are pursuing a graduate degree.
Criteria: Strong interest in teaching as a career • Demonstrated dedication • Seriousness of purpose

College of Business and Economics Alumni Scholarship
Amount: Three $2,500 scholarships
Established by: This scholarship was established by the Alumni of CBE to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing undergraduate Pre-Business or Business Administration students. Graduating students (January, May or August) are not eligible.
Criteria: 3.25 Cumulative GPA • Full-time enrollment • Financial need • Involvement in the University, College or Community
Application Procedure: 1) Complete the SA application, answering all 7 questions and sign the certification; 2) Complete the Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA) (or have one on file) for establishing financial need: and 3) Submit completed application material to LH-700.

Faith Guthrie Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Established by: This endowed scholarship was created by John Guthrie in memory of his grandmother, Faith Guthrie, to support the efforts of students that demonstrate outstanding academic performance while working to fund their education.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing business students who are pursuing an undergraduate business degree while working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Graduating students (Jan., May or Aug.) are not eligible.
Criteria: 3.0 GPA • Full-time • Financial need description
Application Procedure: 1) Complete the SA application, answering all 7 questions, and sign the certification; 2) Include statement of financial need; and 3) Submit completed application to LH-700.

Future in Tourism Scholarship
Amount: $2,500 (dependent upon funding)
Established by: This scholarship was established in 2005 and is funded by the Orange County Tourism Council. The scholarship will assist people who have decided to make a change for the better, through education. The Future in Tourism Award was created for students entering their junior or senior year at CSUF, with a declared emphasis in entertainment/tourism. The committee will consider information regarding your prior employment in the entertainment/tourism industry.
Open to: This scholarship is open to newly accepted or continuing students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in entertainment/tourism.
Criteria: 2.5 GPA • Good Academic Standing • Orange County resident • Age 18 or over • Quality of Essay
• Quality of Recommendations
Application Procedure: 1) Complete the application available from the web at www.oc-of.org or call (949) 553-4202; 2) Prepare a typed essay (minimum 200 words) that describes your academic plans, why you have chosen to have a career in the entertainment/tourism industry and how this scholarship funding will impact your situation; 3) Obtain two letters of recommendation from individuals who will describe how they have come to know you and will add what they see as major strengths and limitations in your character and academic abilities. One letter must be from a professional in the entertainment/tourism industry. Have each letter placed in a separate sealed envelope with the writer’s signature over the back flap of the envelope; and 4) Mail the application materials to the Orange County Tourism Council Scholarship Fund, Orange County Community Foundation, 30 Corporate Park, Suite 410, Irvine, CA 92606.

Outstanding Lower Division Child and Adolescent Studies Student
Amount: $100 (Subject to funding)
Established by: This scholarship was established to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and service to the community and commitment to education.
Open to: This scholarship is open to new or continuing Child and Adolescent major students who are freshmen or sophomores.
Criteria: Freshman or sophomore status • GPA • Community service
Application Procedure: 1) Wait for letter that confirms your GPA qualification; 2) Complete departmental application; and 3) Submit application with award nomination packet to EC-105, c/o Child and Adolescent Studies Department (714) 278-2877

Santa Ana/Cal State Fullerton Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: Two $300 scholarships
Established by: This scholarship was initiated with a $4,000 donation from Dr. Pagni in 1995 to support students from Santa Ana High Schools who enroll at Cal State Fullerton as Mathematics majors. The amount has been augmented by donations from other educators and businesses. Each year, Dr. Pagni joins Mayor Miguel Pulido of Santa Ana in presenting this scholarship to two new recipients.
Open to: This scholarship is open to all Santa Ana Unified School District high school seniors who are planning to attend CSUF to pursue a math degree and teaching credential or Santa Ana high school graduates who are currently enrolled at CSUF as math majors and are planning on pursuing a teaching credential.
Criteria: Good academic standing
