CSUF Web Portal Earns Recognition (May 2003)
The campus web portal My CSUF was recently named a "Site to See" by the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education for the second quarter of 2003. The portal was developed by Information Technology's web team under the guidance of Amir Dabirian and Jim Powell.
The portal, judged on the basis of content delivery, timeliness, ease of use, accessibility (no long waits for service), and graphically pleasing appearance, was selected from nominations made by member institutions from across the country.
ACUTA accepted nominations for portals that effectively use portal technology to
1) help users (students, faculty, staff, prospective students, alumni, etc.) stay connected to their university and to each other, 2) offer services, applications, and other features, 3) support high interactivity (search, chat, forums, ask questions and get answers), and 4) ensure great performance (where no one waits). ACUTA also judged portals based on their level of accessibility to those with technological or physical impediments.
The rewards for honored sites include a link placement on the ACUTA homepage, a press release to the university's public relations department, a notification in ACUTA News, a certificate of recognition, and an acknowledgement at ACUTA's annual conference.
ACUTA is an international non-profit educational association serving nearly 2000 individuals at 825 institutions of higher education. |
