Job Description (Consultant)
Under minimal supervision, consultants will staff the IT McCarthy Commons and the Information & Learning Commons (ILC), and provide consulting in the use of PCs and Macs. Consulting duties include answering questions in regards to software applications; troubleshoot problems related to applications installed on the PCs and Macs; assist users with general computer related problems. Consultants are responsible for checking out laptops and equipped group study rooms. Consultants are also responsible for the maintenance of equipment and the physical environment of the labs. Consultants are responsible for enforcing the labs policies. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
Position starts at $8.50/hour.
Job Description (Lead Consultant)
Lead consultants are responsible for staffing and supervising the IT McCarthy Commons and ILC, and provide consulting in the use of PCs and Macs. In addition to answering user questions, leads are responsible for handling user complaints. Lead consultants are required to supervise consultants and the various labs activities. Leads should be able to supervise and enforce the labs policies. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
Position starts at $9.82/hour.
Qualifications Consultants and lead consultants should have previous PC and Mac experience and an advanced knowledge of software applications currently installed on these computers. Consultants and lead consultants should have excellent communication skills. They must be able to interact professionally with users, co-workers, and supervisors. Consultants and lead consultants must be detail oriented, have prior experience with direct public contact, and the ability to switch quickly between tasks
