CSUF Specific Terminology
At-home-Use Software - This is software that is available at no cost to full time and part time faculty and staff for home use.
Cascade - The transition of an existing rollout workstation to other university uses.
Migration - The methodical and careful process of moving accounts, computers, email, or client data to a new system or server.
Reacquire - When an employee leaves the university and no eligible replacement exists to use his or her old computer it is picked up and returned to stock. This ensures IT has enough equipment to provide computers for eligible employees on campus.
Redeploy - Redeployment is the transition of older rollout computers to other university uses. This may include part time faculty use, labs, or student computers.
Refresh - The refresh is the installation of a new workstation for faculty/staff to replace their existing (older) rollout workstation.
Reimage - The process of wiping out the software on machine and reinstalling everything from scratch. This is necessary if the Operating System becomes damaged, or security on a system is compromised.
Reprofile - The process of configuring a computer for a new user. Generally occurs when an employee leaves campus and their replacement takes over their position.
Rollout - The rollout is the process of receiving, staging, delivering and installing a new workstation for full-time faculty and full/part-time staff. A "rollout computer" is a computer issued to an eligible employee for campus use.
