Wiring Upgrade FAQ
What work is being done?
The infrastructure of our campus network was recently upgraded. To take advantage of the new network we need to move all workstations to the new network and replace the network cable with a faster category 6 cable. Also, since we are already in the offices we will take a quick inventory of equipment issued by IT.
What areas will be affected?
IT will be visiting all offices used by faculty, staff, student assistants, and managers on the main Fullerton campus.
The following areas will not be visited by IT. They will be handled by support staff from other divisions:

Will my work be disrupted by the project?
We want to avoid any disruption to clients’ work. Here’s what we will be doing to make sure things run smoothly:
- We will test the network connection after the switchover to make sure it is working well.
- If you are busy when we visit, we can come back at a more convenient time.
- If the office is empty when we visit, we will leave a note when we are finished.
What if my network port is blocked by furniture?
If we are unable to switch you over due to furniture blocking the network port, we will make arrangements to schedule a follow up visit so the furniture can be moved.
What do I do if I have network problems?
Call the Help Desk at x7777 and we will send someone out to take care of it.
