Hummingbird Host Explorer 9.0

Hummingbird Host Explorer is a suite of communication products used to connect to the mainframe.  This product suite is primary used by many users to access the mainframe application known as SIS+.

IS AN UPGRADE REQUIRED?

Yes!  A major security change for accessing the mainframe is being implemented later this summer, and Host Explorer 9.0 must be used to access the mainframe.  A bulletin is forthcoming within the next few weeks that will describe this security change and how to install and use Host Explorer 9.0 to access the mainframe.  You can upgrade now or wait until after the bulletin has been distributed.

WHEN AND HOW WILL IT BE DELIVERED TO ME? 

If you want to install the new version of Host Explorer, navigate to the "Campus Software" Folder found on your Start Menu toolbar.  Click on the “Install Host Explorer 9" to start the process.

WHAT WILL I SEE WHEN IT RUNS?

The following screen will appear after you click the installer file.  Since the installer needs to restart your computer when it is finished, you should close any open applications.

Installation will proceed after you press any key.

WHAT IF HAVE HOST EXPLORERE 6.2 INSTALLED?

One other bit of info should be added to your message.  For users with Host Explorer v6.2 already installed, the installer for Host Explorer v9 will migrate existing Host Explorer profiles, uninstall Host Explorer v6.2.0.x and then reboot.  After the reboot, Host Explorer will begin the install of v9 and another reboot will occur.  So when Host Explorer v6.2 is installed, two reboots will happen when upgrading to Host Explorer v9.
