Answering a Call
To answer a call, simply pick up the handset. On the 760 and 780 models, you may also hit the green key or the speaker button.
Placing a Call
To place a call, pick up the handset and dial. You may also simply start dialing the number and when it is ringing, pick up the handset. On the 760 and 780 models, you may use the speakerphone option.
To call any extension at CSU Fullerton, just dial the 4-digit number.
To make an emergency call, dial 9-911 or simply 911.
To dial off campus, dial 9 and then the number. If you are calling out of the local area, dial 9 + 1 + the area code and then the number. (Your manual says to use 0 to dial out; this is incorrect.)
Loud Speaker Key
When handset is in the cradle, you can receive audio over the speaker by pressing the button with the speaker icon (bottom left button). However, on the 730 model, your caller will be unable to hear you because there is no microphone.
Mute Key
This button (bottom right) will mute your voice. Your caller will not be able to hear you until you press the button again.
Hold
This allows the user to place the call in progress on hold. In addition, all phones have a built-in hold button. To place a call on hold, simply press the HOLD button (the bottom right hand button at the top of the phone) or press the button marked . To retrieve a call from hold, press the hold button again or hit 1 (the number one). On the 760 and 780 models, the best option is to simply press the line you wish to place on hold. To recover the call, press Recover from your display or press the line you wish to answer. On 730 model phones with the feature capability to answer a second call, you may also place a call on hold in a similar manner.
Transfer
To transfer a call, hit the button, dial the desired extension and hang up. You are able to stay on the line until the other extension answers, thus allowing you to announce the call, and then hang up.
If you misdial or the number is busy, press 1 and you will be reconnected to the caller. On the 760 and 780 models, you may press Recover.
Call Forward (*21, *25, #21)
Call Forward will program your extension to automatically redirect incoming calls to ring at another number or to go directly to your VoiceMail.
- Pick up your handset to get dial tone.
- Press *21 and then dial the extension you wish to forward to.
- To turn call forwarding off, pick up your phone and press #21.
- To forward your calls directly into VoiceMail, press *25. Deactivate the forwarding by pressing #21.
Conference Call
To make a conference call with two other callers, dial the first extension directly. Then hit the button and dial the second extension. When that person answers, press 3 (the number three). You may hang up and let the other two callers talk to each other also.
Redial
Press the green key and then use the up and down arrows to scroll through the last ten numbers you have dialed. When the number appears that you wish to access, press OK. If you press the left or right arrow while on a particular selection, more information about that particular call will be displayed.
VoiceMail Direct Access (*89 or )
The VoiceMail button gives the user direct access to his or her personal voice mailbox, where the user can review and send messages. Either press the button or press *89. You will need to enter only your password from your own phone. If you share a phone, you may need to enter the extension number as well. To leave a message for someone directly in VoiceMail, press *54. From off-campus you can reach voicemail by calling 949-936-1725.
