Speech-Language Pathologist

A speech – language pathologist/therapist or is an individual who is generallyeducated to treat speech, swallowing and language disorders for individualsthroughout the entire lifespan. They are employed in educational settings,rehabilitation centers, hospitals, private clinics or agencies. In addition, many willwork with other health care professionals, patients and family members. An individual interested in this occupation must acquire a graduate degree incommunicative disorders from an accredited institution to gain licensure topractice. After the completion of the degree and with supervised clinicalexperiences a national exam (Council for Clinical Certification) prior to beingemployed as a speech-language pathologist is required.
