What Is a Resident Advisor?
Resident Advisors (RAs) are CSUF student leaders who live on-campus while serving in the role.
Resident advisors are responsible for ensuring Housing and Residential Engagment’s community
development and relationship building by means of student development, training and
development, and administrative.operational tasks. Resident advisors develop individual
relationships with each resident (typically 40-50) focused on learning about them, connecting
them to resources, and helping them grow. In addition to resident relationships, a core
responsibility of this position will be to serve in the student staff on-call duty rotation to ensure the
safety and security of the HRE community.
Contract Dates & Time Commitments
Late July 2025 – Late May 2026
- Resident Advisors are expected to participate in a fall and winter training prior to the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters. All training sessions are mandatory. The detailed training scheduled will be determined prior to each period. Housing accommodations and limited food service will be provided during training.
- Resident Advisors will serve on an overnight duty rotation which includes evenings and weekends. Active working hours during duty shifts are an estimated 2-4 hours per duty shift. This can include rounds, performing lockouts and other duties, and administrative responsibilities.
- Resident Advisors will have scheduled commitments for the opening and closing of halls.
- Resident Advisors will assist in working University signature events.
- RAs will attend mandatory weekly RA meetings to be announced in the terms and conditions upon offer during the academic year
Position Qualifications

Prior to applying, applicants must be a current Cal State Fullerton
student in good standing with a minimum of 12 units earned at Cal
State Fullerton, except for graduate students who need a minimum of
8 units earned at Cal State Fullerton.
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a semester GPA of 2.25 or greater prior to being offered a position.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater, and a semester GPA of 2.25 or greater during their entire period of appointment.
- Maintain a full-time course load of at least 12 units per semester specific to enrollment at CSUF. Graduate Students must maintain a course load of at least 8 units (master’s degree students) per semester specific to enrollment at CSUF.
- Be in good judicial standing with the University as well as Housing and Residential Engagement. At the time of application, candidates must have no pending conduct cases and cannot be on a probationary status with the University. This status must be maintained throughout the appointment to the RA role.
- Have an understanding and willingness to work in an inclusive environment with a diverse student population. RAs are expected to follow and support the Housing and Residential Engagement Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) statement.
- Have an understanding or willingness to learn about residential student needs while they live on-campus.
- Be able to effectively communicate and build/maintain individual and group relationships.
- Be able to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective course of action.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of HRE policies and procedures.
- Have an ability to work and collaborate with others in a team-oriented environment.
Remuneration
Remuneration for Resident Advisors consists of a 7 Day continuous meal plan with $200 per semester in Dining Dollars and a single bed space in Student Housing (estimated to be a value of around $9000 per semester).
Resident Advisors also receive priority registration for their classes while serving in the role in order to plan around RA required commitments.
As a result of receiving this remuneration, the RA position requires you to live on-campus and maintain a presence in the housing community on most days. Requests to be off-campus for multiple days in a row requires approval from your supervisor.

Facilities Student Assistants
This position is currently not accepting applications. This position will begin recruitment for Academic Year 2025-2026 in Spring Semester 2025.
The Facilities Student Assistants are student employees who work with the our Facilities Operations team to assist with the functions of student housing operations. This will include a variety of work assignments including light grounds keeping, minor plumbing repairs and tasks, minor lighting replacement, door lock repairs, painting, occasional custodial related tasks, moving of furniture and equipment, and trash and litter removal. Minimum Qualifications

Summer Conference Student Assistants
Summer Conference Student Assistants

Summer Conference Assistants are student employees who work with our Summer Conferences Team to assist with the administrative and customer service functions of student housing summer operations. This will include a variety of work assignments including providing staff support for the Housing Office, assisting summer conference guests and residents, check-in/check-out of conference groups, preparing and delivering linens to conference guests, serving evening and weekend duty to ensure the security of the community, and responding to after-hours emergency calls. The SCA receives a free single-occupancy room and meal plan as remuneration and is required to live in an on-campus apartment from May 23 – August 11, 2025.
