A softphone is a software program used to make telephone calls over the internet, rather than using a hardwired telephone. The Mitel Clearspan Communicator will allow you to connect to your on-campus phone through the internet.

How does a softphone work?

A softphone connects to the internet for users to make, receive, and manage telephone calls. You do not need dedicated telephone hardware.

Do I need to use a VPN?

You do not need to connect to a VPN to use the Mitel Clearspan Communicator. All you need is an internet connection and one of the following devices: Mac, PC, or Apple iOS device.
