A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH CONDUCTED IN RELATIVISTIC ASTROPHYSICS AT ULUGH BEG ASTRONOMICAL INSTITUTE OF THE UZBEKISTAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The main research work in the group is devoted to studying gravitational field, electromagnetic field and particle motion around compact objects in relativistic astrophysics. We also investigate how quantum corrections to General Relativity affect gravitational collapse of massive stars and the possibility that, as a consequence, there may exist new astrophysical phenomena that are intrinsically quantum-gravitational in nature. We carry out theoretical analysis of Gravitational Waves (GW) data obtained by LIGO-VIRGO collaboration in order to get the constrains on the alternative gravity theories (AGT) in the strong field regime. To study energetic of black holes and particle acceleration mechanism near the gravitating compact objects. We also study particle trajectories, especially circular orbits around compact objects and solution of electromagnetic field equation in the framework of Lorentz violating non-standard Electrodynamics. The aim of the projects is also bring effect of higher dimension in these and related issues.

Prof. Bobomurat Ahmedov

Head of department and Leader of the group. The main research works are devoted to
the Relativistic Astrophysics including the general-relativistic electrodynamics of continuous media and its application for theoretical explanation and analysis of EM (electromagnetic), GW (gravitational waves), optical and astrophysical processes in the external gravitational fields of compact gravitational objects as rotating and oscillating neutron stars and various black holes. Experimental tests of general relativity, general relativistic EM effects and fields for pulsars and magnetized rotating and oscillating neutron stars, quasinormal modes, shadow and energetics of black holes, gravitational lensing are also among my scientific interests. In addition I carry out a research on VLF (very low frequency) and GPS EM waves propagation in Earth ionosphere and study the ionospheric disturbances caused by various atmospheric, terrestrial and extraterrestrial phenomena.
