Assessment

The Division of Student Affairs is dedicated to understanding and improving the student experience and students' development in the co-curriculum. We are focused on improving programs and services through student-centered, intentional, and ongoing direct and indirect assessment. With student success as the guiding principle, we strive to advance holistic student learning and development by creating meaningful connections through educationally purposeful activities.

Student Affairs HIPs at CSUF

High Impact Practices (HIPs) at Cal State Fullerton are transformational learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom that can include:

  • performance expectations at appropriately high levels
  • significant student engagement by investment of time and effort
  • meaningful and substantive learning interactions with faculty, staff, students, or external entities
  • experiences with diversity, complexity, and change
  • frequent and meaningful feedback
  • reflective and integrated learning 
  • experiential learning

In addition, the Division of Student Affairs is committed to providing High Impact Practices that directly support student learning in the following areas*:

2018-2019 

  • In the 2018-2019 academic year, 266 students were assessed for learning gains through their HIPs experience.

  • An average of  10.01%   learning gains was observed using a pre- and post-test approach.

2017-2018

  • In the 2017-2018 academic year, 302 students were assessed for learning gains through their HIPs experience.

  • An average of 13.86% learning gains was observed using a pre- and post-test approach.

Survey and Data Analysis Tools

  • Qualtrics provides   data collection and analysis tools that can be used for surveys, evaluations, and reserach. All CSUF staff have access to qualtrics. You can access qualtrics through your camus portal or by signing in through the hyperlink provided above. To learn more about Qualtrics, please contact Ariana Mora Mero.
  • Campus Labs provides assessment tools such as survey development, data analysis, asassessment resources, and individual consultations. To learn more about Campus Labs, request access, or set-up a campus labs training, please contact Ariana Mora Mero.
