Yuying Tsong, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for Student Success
As the Associate Vice President for Student Success, Dr. Tsong leads programs and oversees processes that support students’ entry to Cal State Fullerton, remove barriers to their progress, and enhance their academic journey. They provide strategic direction for programs and offices that help students discern and develop their academic interests and support student degree progress and equitable academic outcomes. As a faculty member, Dr. Tsong’s scholarship focuses on addressing inequities and disparities. Their research topics included mental health literacy; culturally specific understandings of body image and disordered eating; and the well-being of immigrant/transnational families and sexual/gender/ethnic minoritized communities.
Dr. Tsong is recognized nationally for their work and achievements as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity, and Race, the Society for the Psychology of Women, and the Asian American Psychological Association. They were a past president of the Society for the Psychology of Women and served on the American Psychological Association Board of Convention.
Dr. Tsong earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California in 2004.
