Does the Honors Program provide its students with scholarships or financial aid?

The Honors program does not have scholarships or financial aid, but we may send out emails regarding potential scholarships that the university is offering. Students should check with their major department for more information on the type of scholarships available to them, and go to the Office of Financial Aid for more information on their eligibility for FAFSA.

Is the Honors Program the same thing as the Business Honors Program?

They are two separate programs, and getting accepted into the Honors Program does not automatically admit you into the Business Honors Program, or vice versa. We have many students who participate in both programs.

To conatct the Business Honors Program, you can email them at bha@fullerton.edu.

Is there a difference between the Honors Program and the President Scholars Program?

The Honors Program is different from the President Scholars Program. We are an academic program while The President Scholars Program is a merit based student support program that is offered through the Center for Scholars.

To conatct the Center for Scholars, you can email them at scholars@fullerton.edu.

Is the Honors Program major specific?

All majors are welcome to apply! The Honors courses are interdisciplinary in nature and are designed to foster intellectual curiosity. Many of the Honors courses are used to meet the university’s general education requirements.

When should I apply to the Honors Program?

For Fall applications, our Priority Deadline is April 1, and our Regular Deadline is May 1 for all incoming first year and transfer students. For Spring applications, our deadline for current CSUF students is October 1, and for New Transfer Students is November 1.

Is there a fee to apply to the Honors Program?

It is completely free to apply to the program!

How do I know if I am eligible for the Honors Program?

The University Honors Program is open to all CSUF majors. All students, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, national origin or any other protected status are welcome to apply to the University Honors Program.

Please visit our "Apply" tab for more information. For additional questions, email univhonors@fullerton.edu

What is the difference between Cum Laude/Magna Cum Laude/Summa Cum Laude and graduating with Honors through the Honors Program?

Cum Laude/Magna Cum Laude/Summa Cum Laude is a title given to a student by the university to indicate the level of distinction with which their academic degree has been earned based on GPA.

Graduating with Honors through the University Honors Program is different in that students must have completed their Honors specific course requirements along with an interdisciplinary Senior Honors Project. Upon successful completion of those requirements, with a cumulative GPA in all honors coursework of 3.5 or above, your transcript and diploma will have a line that reads “Graduating with Honors Distinction."

For more information on the university’s categories of Honors and Recognition, please visit the University Catalog.

Can I apply to the Honors Program as a Transfer student?

Yes, if you are an incoming transfer student, you can apply. If you are curious about how the Honors Program would fit into your graduation plan, you can contact us via email at univhonors@fullerton.edu

How do I know what courses to register?

Our students align their General Education and Honors Seminar course requirements. Students must also complete four 1-unit colloquium courses (discussion-based courses that focus on leadership, community-building, creative and research-based inquiry) and a 5-unit senior honors project. Our Honors academic advisors work with you (in addition to your major advisor and GE advisor) to reach graduation in a timely manner, understand requirements, and move forward successfully.

Can I still apply to the program as a current CSUF student?

Yes, there is an application for current students under the “Apply” tab of our website. You can find the requirements for applying there, and if you have any questions concerning the application process, please feel free to reach out to us via email at univhonors@fullerton.edu.
