The Costa Rica Summer Research Training Expedition is a hands-on 5 week introductory research experience that immerses students in the study of tropical environments and biological diversity, statistics and research methods, current issues in conservation, and Costa Rican geography and culture. Students receive instruction in the development of research questions, fundamentals of experimental design, sampling, hypothesis testing, and the responsible conduct of research, while engaging in hands-on activities across a wide variety of habitats and landscapes. Students with little or no research experience engage with group and individual research activities in terrestrial and marine/aquatic environments. Student independent research projects over the years have ranged widely according to their interests and curiosity. All student participants present their research at the end of the program before they leave Costa Rica and over the years many have gone on to present their independent research at national conferences.

Though the program is hosted by facilitators from CSU LSAMP @ Monterey Bay, all CSU undergraduates, especially first and second year students and all CSU LSAMP participants, are invited to apply.

Costa Rica Summer Research Training Information  

CSU-LSAMP statewide office is funding four LSAMP students to participate in this 9-week program in Uzbekistan during summer 2019. We are recruiting two students for the Astrophysics component and two students for the Biochemistry/Biophysics component. LSAMP students will join laboratories in the Ulugh Beg Astronomical Institute and the Institute of Biophysics and Biochemistry of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. All CSU-LSAMP participants are invited to apply. Applications received by February 18, 2019 will be given full consideration.

The REU program in Mathematics (Knot Theory and Differential Geometry) at CSU San Bernardino would like to invite the mathematics LSAMP students at all the CSU campuses to apply to their summer 2019 REU. They have recruited three students from the CSU San Bernardino LSAMP during the last five years and would like to expand their pool of LSAMP applicants. The program runs from June 24 to August 16, 2019, and the deadline for application is February 13.

Our 10-week residential summer research experience provides mentoring and research participation while allowing scholars to preview graduate school life at a research university. Participants all receive competitive stipends, room and board, travel/transport, graduate school preparation workshops, social and networking activities, and more.  Application deadline is March 1.

Nebraska Summer Research flyer

Our summer session (June 2–August 10, 2019) will provide exciting research opportunities for both undergraduate students as well as faculty/undergraduate team pairs. Each participating student or faculty/student team will be matched with an NIU faculty mentor. Research projects cover a broad range of topics in the chemical and biochemical fields, such as chemical synthesis, energy storage and protein engineering. The USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies is now accepting applications for the 2019 Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program in Coastal Ocean Processes.  We encourage students who are interested in conducting independent but guided research in marine and coastal ocean systems to apply!  No prior research experience needed!  We especially encourage students from underrepresented communities and research-limited or marine science limited institutions to apply!  Application deadline is February 22.

The workshop is open to early-career researchers from groups underrepresented in biotechnology research organizations: undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs and assistant professors. Researchers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges and Universities and minority-serving institutions are especially encouraged to apply.

Participant expenses, including travel, lodging, meals, BIO 2019 exhibition registration, and transportation will be covered by the program. We expect to fund up to 40 participants.
