Student Training
To empower students to understand their rights, options, and responsibilities as members of the CSUF community, multiple trainings are offered to all students annually in addition to regular, specialized trainings for specific populations of students. Each enrolled student is required to complete a Title IX training each academic year according to Page 5 within Attachment B and Attachment G of CSU's Nondiscrimination Policy . The annual Title IX training for all currently enrolled students is assigned on Canvas.
For Fall 2024, all currently enrolled students must complete their assigned Title IX training in Canvas by the deadline of 11:59pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Technical Difficulties and Canvas Support
Students can access their assigned Title IX training Canvas course(s) by logging into Canvas via their student portal . If you are experiencing issues with your assigned Canvas course, please call the Canvas support hotline at 855-302-7528 or chat with Canvas support by clicking the "Help" button in the blue left-hand navigation bar from within Canvas.
Alternative Formats
Any student who finds the content of the assigned online course difficult or upsetting has the opportunity to request an alternative format for the training, which can be conducted via Zoom, in person, or over the phone. The alternative format takes the same amount of time to complete as the self-paced course and must be scheduled with a member of Title IX and Gender Equity. To request to join an alternative format Zoom webinar for the annual Title IX student training, please email titleixtraining@fullerton.edu before your training deadline.
The alternative format is offered out of consideration for the sensitive course content, but it is not designed as a replacement for students having technical difficulties. Canvas Support offers tech help at 855-302-7528.
All Currently Enrolled Students
All students must complete an online training within the first few weeks of starting classes. This includes first-time students, returning students, transfers, international students, graduate students, extended education students, and post-bac students. The training requirement applies to every CSUF student enrolled in at least one course across all academic programs regardless of whether their classes are online, in person, or hybrid.
There are separate courses for returning students and new students each academic year. All students will assigned the appropriate self-paced course in Canvas. Failure to complete the training on Canvas will result in portal restriction and a registration hold being placed on students' accounts.
The Canvas courses for Fall 2024 are available on all students' Canvas dashboards starting September 17, 2024. Students will also receive emails and Canvas notifications reminding them to complete the training by the deadline of 11:59pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Special Populations: Student-Athletes, Fraternities and Sororities, and Student Organizations
Per the CSU Nondiscrimination Policy, the Title IX and Gender Equity office is responsible for collaborating on or otherwise providing specialized primary prevention and awareness training for identified student populations, including student athletes, Sports Club participants, members of recognized fraternities and sororities, and other student organizations.
Student-Athletes
Student athletes receive in-person training on an annual basis through Title IX and Gender Equity. Trainings are arranged with Athletics administration each semester.
Recognized Fraternities and Sororities
Students who are new and returning members of recognized fraternities and sororities (referred to as FSL communities) receive either in-person or online training on an annual basis. New students complete in-person training in collaboration with Student Life & Leadership during BAM: Becoming a Member. Returning members complete their annual training either through inviting Title IX and Gender Equity staff to their chapter meetings or attending an in-person training on set dates and times listed at the bottom of this page.
Sports Clubs & Other Student Organization Members
All members of Sports Clubs and other identified at-risk student oragnizations receive training on an annual basis. Title IX and Gender Equity collaborates with Student Life and Leadership as appropriate to provide the training to identified groups. All new and returning Sports Clubs members complete a Title IX training once an academic year. Details of the current semester's Sports Clubs and other student organization trainings are at the bottom of this page.
Request a Title IX Training for Your Organization
Student organizations and groups who have not been previously identified to receive specialized, tailored training related to Title IX and Gender Equity but who desire such training on a regular basis are welcomed to contact the department to request a training, workshop, or ongoing partnership. Title IX and Gender Equity also offers consultations to student organizations on relevant developments to their organizational constitutions and bylaws. To request a training, workshop, or consultation, please email titleixtraining@fullerton.edu. You may also be interested in Title IX and Gender Equity's upcoming events .
How to Lift a Title IX Hold
If you have a Title IX Training registration hold on your student account that is noted in your Student Center, that means that you have an overdue Title IX training that you must complete before you can register for classes or otherwise change your class schedule. Please click on the hold on your Student Center for more information about how to complete the training. If your hold has a start date prior to 01/01/2023, you will need to contact the Title IX and Gender Equity office to be assigned a training in Canvas to complete. Please email titleixtraining@fullerton.edu with your first and last time, campuswide ID number (CWID), and when your hold was placed on your account. You will then be assigned a Canvas course to complete in order to lift your hold. Staff will provide you all necessary instructions.
