Rule Interpretations A vital aspect of the educational program is the interpretation of legislation. This is a daily service provided by the Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance, to the coaches and staff of California State University, Fullerton in order to avoid the misapplication of NCAA, Big West Conference or university regulations. Procedures: B. The official interpretation will be returned, in writing, as soon as possible, with rule citing or supportive information or clarifications. C. When necessary, if a clear interpretation cannot be made by the Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance, the Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, and/or the Big West rules interpreter will be consulted. If the interpretation cannot be made by this group, the NCAA compliance interpreter will be consulted. An NCAA interpretation will be made a soon as possible, and we will be notified first by telephone, then in writing. Copies of the interpretations will be provided to the person(s) asking the question, as well as to the Director of Athletics and Faculty Athletics Representative. D. When appropriate, simple verbal clarifications may be made by
the Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance in person or via
telephone. A follow-up, if necessary or appropriate, may be issued
in writing. Rule Interpretation
Request: Copies of this form are provided to coaches and
staff at the beginning of each year. For clarification/interpretation
of rules, they fill in the top part, then forward the form to the
Assistant Director of Athletics, Compliance. The Assistant Director
of Athletics, Compliance fills in the lower half of the form, then
returns it to the individual requesting the interpretation/clarification.
Copies are sent to the Director of Athletics and Senior Associate
Director of Athletics; another copy of the completed form is kept
in the sports-and-interpretations file in the compliance office.  |
