Data Science 4+1 with University of San Francisco

 

Program Description

The Data Science 4+1 program is an agreement between California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and the University of San Francisco (USF) wherein qualified students can pursue a one-year Master of Science in Data science (MSDS) through USF after completion of their CSUF degree. Under this agreement USF will do the following for qualified graduates from CSUF:

  • Provide priority admission,
  • Waive the application fee,
  • Offer a $10,000 scholarship (distributed between fall and spring) in recognition of the preparation offered at CSU Fullerton.

 

To qualify CSUF students must:

  • Submit a formal application to the MSDS program,
  • complete the list of required courses (see below), 
  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in the required courses, 
  • provide a recommendation by a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at CSUF, 
  • and pass an interview with the Director of the MSDS program at USF.

 

Required Courses:

Mathematics:

  • Math 150A, 150B, 250A (Calculus I, II, III)
  • Math 207 or Math 250B (Intermediate Linear Algebra)

Statistics:

  • Math 338 (Introduction to Statistics)
  • Math 439 (Intermediate Data Analysis)

Computer Science:

  • Math 320 (Introduction to Computer Programming)
