New Student Advising & Registration: Department of Theatre & Dance
Dance Students
Congratulations, and welcome to the College of the Arts (COTA) at Cal State Fullerton! Below are the steps needed to complete
your freshman & transfer student advising and registration. To ensure a smooth transition to CSUF, please carefully review the details outlined below.
First Time Students (Freshmen)
STEP 1: Complete your General Education Modules
As a reminder, you must complete the mandatory General Education (GE) modules. GE courses are required for all first-time freshmen. Modules open June 1, 2022.
Students are advised to register for at least two of the Golden Four GE Areas: A.1 Oral Communication, A.2: Written Communication, A.3 Critical Thinking, and B.4 Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning. Please follow the GE recommendations provided on the General Education Module.
STEP 2: Attend your Major Advising Appointment
On June 7, you will receive an email from the College of the Arts with an advising appointment. Your appointment will consist of major advising and registration support. You are required to attend your appointment via Zoom. Expect the advising appointment to be approximately 2 hours. Please arrive on time.
Check your CSUF email regularly to learn about other major requirements and for important updates.
Transfer Students
STEP 1: Complete your General Education Modules
As a reminder, you are strongly encouraged to complete the General Education (GE) advising modules. Upper division GE courses (300-400 level) are required for all transfer students.
Modules open June 1, 2022.
If you do not see lower-division courses that you have already taken populating in the correct area of your TDA, please let an advisor know during your registration session. Do not register for the course if you believe you have already taken it.
For upper-division GE, Dance students can overlap a course from Area C.3. DANC -301 is recommended as it will also satisfy Overlay Z, the Cultural Diversity requirement.
