Arts District is a community designed for arts majors (visual art, music, theatre and dance) looking for an enhanced living –learning experience. Arts District has an emphasis on collaborative learning, student engagement and integration of academic coursework. Student residents will build a strong sense of community through purposeful interactions with other students, staff, faculty, and administrators. In addition to the benefits of living on an arts-themed community, College of the Arts offers exciting programming and events exclusively for Arts District residents such as: attendance at CSUF art exhibitions, theatre and music performances, behind-the-scenes director and cast talks, career and advising workshops, peer mentoring, and more!

RESIDENT EXPECTATIONS:

  • Attend a minimum of 4 Arts District (visual and performing arts) events per semester
  • Engage in creative scholarly and academic activities with the community and the College of the Arts
  • Interact and network with your Arts District community peers
  • Respect and follow University and Student Housing rules and expectations
  • Learn and develop an appreciation for the diverse artistic skills of your community peers
  • Enhance the reputation of our artistic campus community through creativity, civility and leadership

COMMUNITY DEMOGRAPHICS:

  • 48 College of the Arts first time freshmen: 12 dance majors, 12 music majors, 12 theatre majors and 12 visual art majors
  • Co-ed floor with 24 double occupancy rooms
  • Each wing (4 rooms) will be gender dedicated for 8 residents, 2 per room
  • Residents will share a community bathroom with seven other residents (Has two of each - shower stalls, sinks and commodes)

    Active (TV, gaming, etc.) and passive (study) community rooms for residents to use
