College of the Arts Diversity,  Equity and Inclusion initiative

VISION STATEMENT

The College of the Arts at California State University Fullerton values and champions diversity in its individual areas of artistic study and emphatically endorses this same diversity in those who teach and learn within our college regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, ability, sexual orientation/identity, socioeconomic status, or geographic region. Uniquely situated within the cultural dynamism and vibrancy of the State of California, CSUF is also proudly federally recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). We embrace the responsibilities this juxtaposition of locale and designation confers upon us and celebrate the incredible tapestry of diversity, equity and inclusion it creates. As artists and educators, we recognize the exceptional power of the arts of all cultures to unite us, which edifies and enriches our artistic practice. We seek to collaborate with and empower students to realize their own individual artistic visions as they refine their craft and develop into artists who possess great depth and humanity. We affirm that all faculty and staff who seek to be employed in the College of the Arts must share in our collective beliefs regarding diversity, equity and inclusion.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the College of the Arts' Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Committee is to create an artistic community of diverse individuals who represent the College of the Arts student body. As a committee, we will stand up against all forms of racism and bias as we interrogate practices, policies and curriculum to ensure they support our current objectives. We endeavor to recruit and hire diverse faculty; enhance culturally relevant and inclusive pedagogy; review curriculum and classroom engagement; and create anti-racist programs for our community.
