Mr. Kinney has designed scenery for over 100 theatre productions as well as for trade shows and television. His work has been see at A Noise Within, Pasadena; South Coast Repertory, Costa Mesa; Vienna’s English Theatre; The Cutting Ball Theatre, San Francisco; NYC Fringe Festival; San Diego Repertory; Triad Stage, Greensboro-North Carolina; New Jersey Repertory Theatre, Two Rivers; City Theatre of Pittsburgh; Prince Music Theater, Philadelphia; and Yale Repertory Theatre, New Haven. Mr. Kinney has also worked on television productions such as Dave Chappelle’s Equanimity & The Bird Revelations, Roy Wood Jr.: Father Figure, Basketball Wives, Larry the Cable Guy’s Christmas Spectacular and Jeopardy! He has assisted scenographer Pamela Howard, O.B.E. and production designers Bruce Ryan and Andrew Jackness.
Mr. Kinney has been a Visiting Artist at Stanford Drama Department’s Summer Theatre, Stanford University and at Montclair State University, Montclair, New Jersey. He has lectured at Guilford College, University of North Carolina - Greensboro and University of North Carolina - School of The Arts. He is a recipient of the NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Designers and holds a M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama and a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
